Jane Epstein

Jane Epstein is a child-on-child sexual abuse survivor, speaker, author, and advocate for preventing child-on-child sexual abuse.

She did not anticipate stepping onto the TEDx stage at age 53 to share her story, but she knew someone needed to sound the bell on this silent epidemic. When she was six years old, she experienced sexual trauma from an older sibling. She spent decades thinking she was complicit. At 45, staring down anger and depression, she finally began to unravel her past and realized how profoundly it had shaped her self-esteem, relationships, and life’s trajectory.

Today Jane is a survivor of and advocate for survivors of sibling sexual abuse and trauma, including survivors harmed by a sibling, step-sibling, cousin, or older adolescent; parents who have discovered harmful sexual behaviours within their homes; and children who have caused harm. She is a co-founder of IncestAWARE.org and 5WAVES.org, an international 501(c)(3) advocacy group offering information, support, and guidance about sibling sexual abuse and trauma, and one of twelve moderators of a 7,000-member survivor community.

Her TEDx talk, “Giving Voice to Sibling Sexual Abuse,” has reached more than 600,000 people. Her story was featured in People magazine, and she contributed to The Sunday Times Magazine cover story “Revealed: The Hidden Crime of Sibling Sexual Abuse.” I Feel Real Guilty was named a Silver Winner in the Memoir & Personal Journey category at the 2026 Nautilus Book Awards.
