Donald Carr

Jamaican-Canadian Griot | Actor | Dancer | Playwright | CABS Facilitator

Donald Carr is a Jamaican-Canadian Griot, artist, facilitator, and creator of CABS: Creative Action Brainstorming Sessions.

His practice is rooted in more than five decades of acting, dance, theatre-making, and embodied storytelling. He trained on scholarship with the National Ballet of Canada and Toronto Dance Theatre, and studied with the Alvin Ailey and Martha Graham companies. As an actor, writer, choreographer, and stage manager, he contributed to more than 60 original productions with Theatre in the Rough and performed across North America, Europe, and South Africa, including at the Festival d’Avignon.

At the request of the South African government, he was invited to facilitate forgiveness and conflict-resolution workshops in post-Apartheid South Africa.

CABS is a practice for discovering the source of your power, dissolving the barriers between who you are and whom you want to become, and using imagination to create positive change. Donald brings to it curiosity, play, embodied thinking, difficult questions, and the courage to tell the truth.

His personal statement is simple: wherever he is, he aims to leave people better than he found them and to champion growth in himself and others.
