C.V. Shaw

Award-winning Author, The Spell | Doctor of Oriental Medicine

Cecilia Valdes Shaw was born in Miami, Florida, the second child and only daughter of Consuelo and Mario Valdes, both Cuban immigrants living in the United States since 1964.

Cecilia started writing poetry at the very young age of 7, and she still keeps those poems today. She studied journalism and wrote for magazines and newspapers, including Miami Herald Neighbors, M.D. News and Florida Medical Business, before entering the medical field. She maintained a career in physical therapy for 15 years, which led her to an interest in holistic healing and a Doctorate in Oriental Medicine. She is also a MindScape Instructor and a board member for the South Florida Writers Association.

Her debut novel, The Spell, is a tale of treachery, magic, and passion set in sixteenth-century England, and won a Literary Titan Gold Book Award. Her prize-winning short story “Who’s Underneath” appears in Story Circle’s Real Women Write anthology Living on COVID Time, and her work is part of the Sea of Tranquility anthology, sent to the moon in a Lunar Codex time capsule. Her short story Ripped was adapted into the short film Channel 0, which earned seven film festival laurels, including the Madrid International Film Festival.

C.V. Shaw is the mother of two creative sons, both in the film and music industry.
